Swimming, Walking and Ramblings
With the scorching hot weather we had last week we went ahead and got Emily's little pool out for her. We were not sure she would like the cold water but she surprised us and loved every minute of it. This little pool is so cute and perfect for her. It is very shallow and you hook it up to a hose because it has little holes in it that squirt up water. She was so cute as she tried to grab at the water. She would look shocked when the water got in her face then she would try to do it over and over again. I think the pool will be great for us this summer and we try and escape the horrible heat of Redding.
The last few days have actually been really nice and cool. I am hoping that is stays this way for awhile. I hate the Heat!! Emily and I enjoyed a nice walk at the Sundial Bridge today. She just loves to be outside. But I found out she is quite the Girl! I found a little fuzzy caterpillar and thought she might want to touch it. So I let it crawl into my hand and showed it to her and she just stared at it for a few seconds and then I thought I would let it crawl on her leg. She immediately picked it off her leg and threw it on the ground. It was really funny how much she was disgusted by it. I also took her down by the Sacramento river and let her dip her toes in the water. Again I thought she would not like the freezing cold water but I think she would have gone swimming in it if I would have let her.
Okay now onto my ramblings.
Two socks enter the washer. Two socks exit the dryer.
As household tasks go, what could be simpler? A pair of socks goes from drawer to feet to dirty clothes to washer and dryer and back into the drawer.
Of course, anyone associated with a social group that faintly resembles a family knows the truth. Socks do disappear. Virtually every residence in the free world has a drawer, pile or basket of mismatched socks. Millions - no, billions - of socks drift aimlessly without mates.
I have no idea what happens to the said socks but my guess is the same little gnome that takes these socks is also now taking my tupperware from my dishwasher. You see I had a number of little bowls for Emily in the past and I have been wondering why I keep washing the same one over and over again so that she can use it. Then it hit me they were all missing just like the socks. Why does this little gnome need a plethora of mismatched socks and bowls with no lids I ask?
And one other thing... Do not buy cheap diapers!! I usually buy the big box at Costco but this month ran out a little early so I thought I would pick up a bag at Walmart to get me through until next month when I can buy another box. Well, that was a dumb idea. These cheap diapers will not hold a thing. I have to end up changing Emily about every five minutes and really that is not saving me any money if I have to buy a pack every day. Then because she sleeps through the night by the time she gets up in the morning everything is soaked and I have to do extra laundry which causes me to buy more laundry soap. Okay, I go out a buy a bag of the more expensive diapers so that she can wear those at night and not soak her bed. So now I am out money for the cheap diapers first, extra laundry detergent and now the more expensive diapers. This is just a vicious cycle people. Granted this girl could probably out drink her Auntie Bean but that is beside the point. Moral of the story... Cheap diapers save you no money in the long run.

Cute post! Emily is adorable as always. Is she out-drinking me with water or her watered-down juice? Missed getting to see her last weekend. Hopefully we can get together for Keva soon!!
I appreciate your advice. I will NOT buy Costco diapers when I start wearing them later this year. Hey, maybe I can just use all those unmatched socks?
Thanks for more cute pics.
Yeah! I got pee'd on today at breakfast! That was no fun. And seriously I went to get a lid for Anna's bowl and there were NO LIDS! what the heck? It is not like they go far. . .I put them in the cupboard above the dishwasher. It actually amazes me when I am done with the laundry and I have both of Anna's socks . . . I mean they are tiny! Really it is like a miracle!
Hmmm. Gnomes are funny creatures. Why, just the other day I saw one on the side of the street and thought it sad that that guy should have gnome. I guess that's why we have rescue missions. Wait, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, thanks for the pictures of Emily. She sure is a cutie.
I can definitely relate!! I've come to the conclusion that my dryer must eat socks, meanwhile my mismatch basket is overflowing. Oh and I think one of your tupperware gnomes made it over to my house and dropped one of his treasures because I think I have one of Emily's bowls in my cupboard. =) Hope you had fun this weekend! We missed you!
