Whiskeytown Falls
We decided to take a hike on Saturday evening to Whiskeytown falls. I am not much for hiking, in fact I don't like it at all. If it is just walking on semi flat ground amongst the trees with beautiful scenery then I am okay with that, but as for climbing massive mountains I hate it. None of us had any idea what kind of a hike it would be seeing as we had never been there but we decided to go for it. It ended up being a 3.4 mile round trip hike with a climb of about 700 feet in elevation. The falls itself is a 220 foot cascading waterfall and very pretty. Emily absolutely loved it. For a majority she road in the backpack and had a huge smile on her face and would laugh sometimes when Zachary would bounce a little. Then she started getting cold so Zachary bundled her up in my sweatshirt and he carried her at which one point she fell asleep in his arms. That is rare for her because she doesn't like to be held when she falls asleep, she likes to be laid down and left alone. She must have been exhausted. Courtney was a little trooper. She walked most of the trail by herself with the occasional ride on someone's shoulders. At one point she was on Justin's shoulders serenading us all with the ABC'c or Twinkle twinkle little star. It was so cute. All in all we had a great time but I think next time we will go to the falls that are only .5 miles from the trail head.
side note: The reason why Justin is in only one picture is because he loves to play with my camera and I love it when he does. He knows so much more about my camera and all of it's functions and he always take such awesome pictures. It's like taking a personal photographer with us.

Thanks for the great pictures! We love y'all. Emily is so cute!
Caleb wants to say, "You said that you didn't like hiking? What about that stupid hike you took us on that was supposed to be nice and leisurely but turned out to be five miles, uphill, both ways?!?!?! Yeah, you know what I'm talking about."
Looks beautiful and fun. Wish I could have been there for it!
I can't get over how cute Em was on ichat yesterday!!!! I miss her so much.
How are your knees doing? Have you been able to run lately? Did you get some new shoes?
Caleb~ in all fairness I had no idea that was going to be a incredibly long hike. We were suppose to find a cave or something and that would have been fun. You really should just let it go.
Katie~ running is going well. I have my first 2 mile run on Sunday. I think I will probably die. No we have not gotten any shoes. My knees are fine. Now it's my hip and they don't hurt while I am running. So I just suck it up the rest of the time. only 19 more days until we see everyone!!
Dude, that hike was sweet. Much nicer than Castle Crags, but I'd still like to do that again.
Looks like a lot of fun. I did not see any pictures of me in there.... Oh yeah you did not invite me. Thanks a bunch:-} Any time you want to lose at another game just call me!!!!
Nice pictures, it looks like you all had tons of fun.
p.s. I'm not a big hiking fan either.
Emily is really SO cute! We are just a little jealous that you could decide to partake in an activity like that just for a SAturday. No such luck in Texas.
Hey girl, I love the pictures! They turned out great! I'm sooooo glad you guys are still talking to us and hanging out with us after that long long long long hike!! Sorry about that!!! Memories!!! See ya soon!!
I cannot speak for the difficulty nor length, but the falls are gorgeous. The closest we have are the rocks in Dad's backyard, and that hike is fairly painless. The family photos are great. Thanks for sharing them.
