Things I have learned

So I have been a mom now for 2 days shy of three weeks. It has been a blast and I wouldn't change it for the world. She is changing so much and I am enjoying every bit of it. Here are a few things I didn't know before I became a mom:
  • you can become very skilled at typing with one hand
  • you really only need one hand to do all household chores
  • you can get through the day on as little as 2 hours of sleep
  • you have to do laundry daily instead of once a week
  • you can eat a meal in under 10 seconds
  • Poop comes in many different colors
  • you should pack not only clothes for the baby but also for yourself ( I got drenched with spit-up)
  • 3 outfits is not enough when you go out for a few hours
  • baby socks are completely pointless
  • A 9 lb baby can wake you out of a sound sleep with a fart louder than that of a 180lb man!(that one is for Zachary and Jeremy)
  • Going to town for a quick trip will take all day when you take the baby with you
I am sure that I have alot more to learn but for now I am having fun and trying to figure out how to manage my time and still get things done.
I know you would be very upset if I didn't post at least one picture of out sweet little girl so here is one from our trip to the coast this last weekend.

I still think Zachs fart is probably worse but I guess you will be able to tell us all since you are stuck in the middle of those two every night.

So true, all of it. Glad you are enjoying motherhood. Adorable picture, what did she think of the coast. I took Tessa at 6 weeks and it was a blast.

If you think driving was fun, wait until you try to fly. You've got to carry all that stuff you mentioned, and fit it into your 2 checked bags plus your carry-on.

Also, there was just a bit too much info in your post, although I cannot disagree with any of it. There are some memories that are best left unrecalled.

Nice pic, though. Thanks.

Could Emily be any more adorable. Man you guys have such an awesome daughter.

I'm also glad that you are enjoying being a mom. I'm enjoying being an uncle, however, there's not as much too it. And tell Emily that Uncle Stain misses her, and not to forget me.

Hey, Brenda! I had Don take some photos off your blog, and took them to my Tuesday Bible study class. The ladies loved them. I also took the picture of Isabella covered in purple icing at her 1st birthday party, and one of Ben and Walker. How I wish we could see you in person, Emily!! One of the greats.

How many changes of clothes do you need to go to the coast? =) It gets easier every day! Now we only pack one diaper, just in case, some milk, and a snack. Can't wait to start all over again!

So glad you are learning all this right before I am going to need this wealth of knowledge. And I'm glad you only need 2 hours sleep, because that means you will be up when I make my "What in the world is my baby doing?" calls! And your baby is pretty darn cute! Love the hat!

Loved your post. That is all so true! I'm glad you're enjoying motherhood. It does get a little easier as they get older....well you get a little more sleep anyway. I'm looking forward to holding little Emily on Wednesday. I need my girl fix! :)
